2009 AOPA Sweepstakes
01/15/2010
The 2009 AOPA Sweepstakes aircraft with its final design was completed this past fall. It has been seen all over the country donning the "The Let's Go Flying" and "General Aviation Serves America" livery. This 3rd and final design is what the winner of the Sweepstakes will receive. It was an honor to participate in the AOPA Sweepstakes for 2009 and good luck to all AOPA members who have a chance at winning this remarkable aircraft!
About the Designs
"LET'S GO FLYING"
This design found its inspiration in AOPA's "Let's go Flying" logo. The designers at Air Graphics decided to continue with the theme and state that same message across the entire side of the fuselage. Accenting the slogan are an array of stars made of highly reflective white films. The stars are subtle in appearance in ambient light but when a taxi/landing light or flashbulb shines upon the aircraft, the reflective nature of the film really shows through.
"General Aviation Serves America"
The success of the "Let's Go Flying" campaign was so great that when the aircraft came back to Air Graphics for its second makeover, AOPA decided to split the aircraft in half and keep the co-pilot side in the "Let's Go Flying" and reserve the pilot side for the new "GA Serves America" campaign.
Supporting the patriotic theme of "General Aviation Serves America," Air Graphics' designers utilized blues and reds that were beautiful and bold. The text along side of the aircraft was embossed and received a gradient of black on silver to give it a three-dimensional effect. All the treatments resulted a patriotic appearance that truly delivered the message of GA serving America.
"Air Graphics Signature Piece"
For the third and final design for the Sweepstakes Cirrus, AOPA literally gave us a blank sheet of paper and said "have at it!" This was our opportunity to push the design envelope and truly enhance the natural lines of an already beautiful aircraft. The end design was something truly unique that no Cirrus has ever donned before.
